Students Transforming Civics Education
Toolkits & Resources
From providing guides on drafting initial proposals to petition forms to progress checklists, we partner with institutions to make their ambitions of Election Day becoming a non-instructional day a reality. YCIC is excited to partner with your instiution to support the full process from first steps to final logistics. Beyond class-cancellation, YCIC focuses on improving civic engagement on campus by offering workshop modules on topics such as civic literacy, civil disagreement skills, key takeaways from recent presidential elections, and more.

Information Literacy Module
In an era where digital noise increasingly drowns out the truth, this interactive module empowers students to critically think about consuming information. Students will develop concrete skills for fact-checking and navigating today’s media landscape through a series of both group and individual activities. Importantly, students will practice transforming evidence into respectful, solutions-oriented dialogue and cultivate core civic dispositions such as civic confidence and civic reciprocity. The module emphasizes that building an informed citizenry is less a technological challenge than an educational one that must be addressed in the classroom.

The Petition:
Gauging Interest
A simple and effective way to understand how your campus feels about class-free Election Days is to create and share a petition, asking students for signatures to express support. You can view a sample petition below as a starting point.
